NOTE: Has been spayed & released from whence she was found. (see last paragraph)
Mewt, for that is what she is – 'mute', arrived out-of-the-blue with a sibling about a month ago. Both appeared healthy, though somewhat scrawny. They'd been scavenging the garbage dump and begging scraps from patrons of the kopi-tiam. One day, I didn't see the sibling anymore.... I took Mewt in because I noticed her eye was swollen and teary. A visit to the vet soon corrected the problem. After a short period of quarantine and introduction via smells, I introduced my 3 cats to Mewt who remains wary of the two females (Abigail and Gigi) but absolutely playful with the male (Monti) who doesn't growl or hiss at her like the other two.
Mewt was neutered in Aug 2010. Unfortunately, after all the time in my care (4 months), she has not been successfully socialised and in fact did not get along with my two other females.
I released her where I found her (downstairs, at the kopitiam) and she has been seen in the company of the big black male cat that was adopted by the kopitiam owner. I feel saddened somewhat because as an adoptable kitty, Mewt's case was a failure. At least she doesn't have to worry about pregnancies and I shall always keep an eye out for her well-being.
