Meet Coco the stray cat. I took interest in her when she would patiently wait by this lamppost day after day ..after day. I was told a woman would regularly feed her. Unfortunately the woman contracted Covid 19 and had to go to the hospital.
I have been feeding her with the hope the woman will soon return. Unfortunately she never did.
Through the months I got to know Coco, I found her to be a docile and affectionate cat. Relatively smaller than most adult cats. She doesn't run, if ever it was more a trot whenever she sees me coming for her feed. She would take refuge under cars for her home away from the scorching heat of the sun and of late heavy rainfall.
Then I noticed that she had the sniffles which progressively got worse. I sent her to the vet for treatment . She was given antibiotics . She improved but not completely. The nasal discharge persisted which I noticed more during her feeds.
I realized that food was also coming out of her nostrils when she ate. A check at the vet confirmed a suspicion, she has a cleft on her palate. A condition which she had since birth.
Updates :
13 January - Surgery to close the cleft on her palate completed successfully. She is recovering favorably at the vet clinic.
11 March - Coco was scheduled for spay yesterday only to find out that she has already been spayed(!) As is the usual for TNR a cat's ear is snipped. Hers was not so she was meant to be someone's pet ... but abandoned?
