The PetFinder.my 3rd Anniversary Charity Fair at Sunway Pyramid has arrived at a happy and satisfying closure after a long and exhausting weekend on April 23 & 24, 2011! The event successfully raised a total of RM20,362 in cash donations and sold over RM20,000 in charity merchandise, putting huge smiles on the faces of all participating NGOs, merchants and volunteers.
Thousands of people thronged the 1,300 square feet event area at Sunway Pyramid's Orange Wing, LG2 to catch 7 of Malaysia's leading animal welfare groups in action - PAWS, SPCA Selangor, HOPE, Save A Stray, Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better, Paws Mission and AnimalCare. Each NGO arrived well-prepared, armed with presentation boards, brochures and laptops to spread their messages, as well as attractive assortments of charity merchandise to raise further funds.
Merchants also generously participated to provide visitors with a wide array of art & craft items, donating their sales proceeds to charity. Furrenz.com, the event's co-organizer, proved to be the hottest merchant booth, with a strong flow of customers ordering elegantly-engraved pet tags. Other merchandise available include HeartBeat.my's personalized mugs, cushions and shirts; Da Vinci Creative Kid's magic keychains and recyclable bags; Henry Cats & Friend's animal mouse pads and pens; Petster Magazine's T-shirts; Cake Pantry's animal-shaped cupcakes and cookies; and BeadsCraftz's fridge magnets.
The adorable animal mascots became the center of attraction, padding around the area appealing for donations with their heart-melting eyes. MDDB's mascot wearing two strap-on donation cylinders and HOPE's mascot spotting a miniature Christmas hat on its head were irresistible, perpetually drawing in donors and photographers alike. PetFinder.my surprised the crowd with the largest animal mascot - a volunteer dressed up in a cute Husky dog suit.
The event was complemented by an exciting line-up of performances - Kristal Ho and Clement Chan's inspiring duets; Rubini and Pet N You's eye-opening pet obedience demonstrations; Fawn and Groovy's brilliantly-choreographed doggy dance; Angela's sweet singing; Dr.Loh's informative animal welfare talk and doggy parade; Caught Red-Handed's powerful band gig; Living Arts Dance Studio's jazz and hip-hop dances energetically performed by kids; Mr.Loh's skillful American tap dancing; and of course, PetFinder.my's joyous birthday celebration with a
delightfully-crafted cake courtesy of Cake Pantry. Besides arranging the majority of performances, Save A Stray, the event's co-organizer also dazzled up the charity fair with colorful clowns and helium balloons, in co-operation with Sunway College students. Further spicing up the event was Andrew, the funny and charismatic emcee that expertly coordinated the activities and reigned in large crowds.
PetFinder.my's charity fair reached a successful closure at 9pm on Sunday, when the collected cash donations were summed up and distributed to the deserving NGOs. A tiring but extremely fruitful weekend where the event's objectives were successfully accomplished - raising funds and awareness for Malaysia's homeless animals.
