Love Me, Feed Me, Never Leave Me!

🌟Cat of the week🌟 Hi there. Jomjam here, Soi Dog’s very own Garfield. The similarities don’t end at our fuzzy orange tabby fur. Just like the comic book kitty, I love nothing more than lounging, lazing, snoozing and snacking!

Sadly, unlike Garfield, I wasn’t born in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant with a silver spoon of lasagne in my mouth. Instead, I was born on the mean streets of Thailand. Soi Dog came to my rescue in January 2019 after I was hit by a car and left with a deep wound on my face, an injured leg and a dislocated hip.

But with surgery and physiotherapy, I was soon back on my paws again. My facial wound healed too but, as you can see, the fur never quite grew back. I also have an outturned eyelid, but a few eye drops here and there keep any discomfort away.

I was really scared when I first arrived at the shelter. Being housed with other cats after so many years of roaming free independently was stressful for me, and I would sometimes lash out at them in fear. Soi Dog’s Behaviour Team even came to assess me to see if I was a troublemaker who needed behavioural therapy. You can imagine how much they laughed when I immediately rolled over on my back for a belly rub and showed them I’m the biggest softie ever!

It’s best that I’m the only cat in your home, not only because I struggle to be around other felines, but because I’m FIV+. You can read more about this here, but the most important thing to remember is that being FIV+ only means I will need an extra bit of help and care. I can live just as long as any other cat with some regular visits to the vet.
