Mahatma Gandhi Once Said, The Greatness Of A Natio..

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated,” and that “Life is as precious to us as it is for an animal.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, lockdowns are being extended and restrictions on global travel continue to tighten, and as we come together as collectives, providing a sense of emotional support and togetherness, let’s not forget our four-legged friends living as part of our communities.

As you continue to support your loved ones during these trying times, we ask you to find it in your hearts to not forget about the vulnerable street dogs and cats, who need us now more than ever. Here in Phuket, Thailand where we are located, we have issued a press release urging the local community to help provide food and water for the island’s homeless animals.

There are variety of ways we can all help the dogs and cats in our neighbourhoods:

✔️Leave out bowls of food and clean water, without causing any public health violations.

✔️Monitor the street animals around your area, and report them to a local shelter if their condition is life threatening and they need emergency care (e.g. they are bleeding uncontrollably or are having trouble breathing). For any minor injuries, a simple first aid kit can do wonders. However, take care of yourself first and remember your safety is just as important as that of the animal you are trying to help.

✔️Despite false internet rumours, there is no evidence whatsoever that dogs and cats can transmit COVID-19 to humans. (This has been confirmed by the World Health Organisation.) However, it is important to implement basic hygiene measures before and after touching them as well as when you handle their food. This is for their safety as much as yours.

✔️Please share this post far and wide, wherever you are, whether your neighbourhood has stray animals or not. It is important that everyone, everywhere comes together to care for the animals who are dependent on us today more than ever.
