Blind Dogs See With Their Hearts! Click Here To Le..

Hi there, I’m Maengern which is Thai for “silver mother”. Just like silver, I’m precious, unique and I shine bright!

Soi Dog’s animal rescue officers found my family – Maethong, Maeploy and Maepetch – and I struggling to survive on the streets of Phuket. Our eyes were sore and inflamed, and we were suffering from varying degrees of blindness. We couldn’t see the dangers around us, and finding food and clean water was becoming more difficult by the day. The officers knew we would be much safer at the shelter.

When we arrived, we were rushed to the hospital. The vets examined my eyes and discovered a number of conditions that had caused me to go blind, including cataracts which stop light from passing through my retinas. It’s okay, though. My ears and nose have stepped up to the challenge, and I now navigate my way around using my excellent hearing and keen sense of smell.

I may be blind, but I’m just as curious, playful and affectionate as any other dog you’re likely to meet. When I sense a visitor entering my run, I’m often the first to greet them at the door, tail wagging and a smile stretching from ear to ear.

Understandably, I sometimes get spooked by loud sounds and sudden movements. I just need a patient human by my side to assure me that I’m safe from harm. The support of an equally patient doggie friend would be great too. I’m at my best when I’m in a group.
