To The Untrained Eye, This Might Look Like A Healt..

To the untrained eye, this might look like a healthy forest. But in reality, this is a degraded forest. 10 years ago, as a degraded forest, Bukit Piton was filled with shrubs and undergrowth and was void of trees. It was not a forest that could adequately sustain wildlife, much less a population of orangutans.

Together with the Sabah Forestry Department, WWF-Malaysia spearheaded the project to restore 2,400 hectares of degraded land in Bukit Piton as a bid to save the orangutans there. A monumental task that would take a decade. Yet, there is still so much more to be done.

Stay tuned this Friday as we show how Bukit Piton looks like now after 10 years of hard work – a story of people and the forest.
