Cleo, Fish Oil And Occam’s Razor
Tweet |
I’m still trying to get Cleo to eat the fish oil…
I’ve tried 3 brands of fish oil, discreetly mixed into various types of foods (Cubgrub, canned food, etc.) but none has been totally successful. Coatex and NatureMade are capsules so some of the oil is wasted on the scissors and my fingers. Furthermore once mixed with food, Cleo either walks away after sniffing at the food, or she licks, but only part of the food. The oil has been mixed so again, I don’t know how much of it she has consumed.
So, it’s been very tricky….
And Cleo is the type who needs very little food. Although she weighs 3.3kg while Pole weighs only 2.7kg, Pole eats much more than Cleo. Cleo can survive with even half a meal a day. Food just isn’t that important to her and she has been like this all her life.
The boys are all big eaters.
Sometimes, she has to be coaxed 3-4 times to eat during a meal.
And each time someone eats, Indy eats too.
This morning, she refused to lick the fish oil-laced Cubgrub. There was only a tiny drop of oil in it, but of course a cat can smell that out. Cow, Bunny, Indy and Pole ate theirs (with the fish oil), but not Cleo. Cleo went far away.
Since yesterday, she refused to eat with the rest. She went away to do her business, leaving her food untouched. Then, she wandered about in the garden, I went out to feed Mr Zurik and it was only after about half-an-hour that she came back and seemed interested in food.
Then only she ate.
Hmm….are you being elitist, Cleo? Why do you refuse to eat with your family and only want to eat afterwards?
Cleo: I’m not being elitist, I’m being humble. I want to eat last, after Mr Zurik.
Oh, I see…well, ok.
Cleo: Humans are easy to fool….
You just put on a cute face, then tell them anything and they will fall for it.
This morning, she did it again. The same thing. I couldn’t get her to eat the fish oil or even her food. She ate afterwards and not wanting to take any chances, I dare not lace her food with the fish oil anymore.
I guess eating food is more important than eating fish oil.
But then again, right after that, after washing up, I decided to give it a try. So I simply poured a few drops of the Ark Natural’s fish oil into a bowl, just pure oil and nothing else, no food, and offered it to Cleo. Of course I expected her to turn away.
Guess what?
She licked up all the oil!
Then, I poured a few drops again.
She licked it all up!!!
Just plain fish oil in a bowl, without any food. She licked it all up!!!
Why did I go mix it with food?!!! Aduh…bodohnya…
Cleo: Occam’s Razor says that the simplest solution is always the best one. Humans complicate things, don’t they? How dumb….hahaha….
