“Go Home, Buddy!”

Buddy understands English.
He really does.
Two evenings ago, he came to eat but husband was there and he said to Buddy, “Go home, Buddy, go back to your own house” without any gesture, whatsoever. It was just words. Buddy turned around and walked out of the gate, back towards the direction of his own house.
No kidding. Really.
And this morning, I said to him, “Go home, Buddy.”
Buddy turned around and went home.
I’m 99% sure Buddy is just here for snacks. He sure looks very well-fed. If he is fed, it wouldn’t be right of me to feed him more – it could lead to obesity and surely his owner has a food plan for him.
And it’s not just snacks for Buddy. Buddy is a foodie. He loves to eat.
Ever since I started training Zurik to eat canned food and raw food, Buddy has been demanding for the same. If I were to give both of them kibble, Buddy would refuse to eat. He would just look at me and start mewing. I could almost hear him say, “No, no, not this one, the other type, I want the other type…not this dry one. That one with gravy…yes, that one. Give me that one, please…”
Zurik, on the other hand, will just eat anything I offer.
But not Buddy. Buddy speaks. Buddy makes demands.
Anyway, an occasional snack is probably not harmful, but since Buddy is so well-fed, I shouldn’t be giving him two full meals a day. Sometimes, even three.
And it looks like Zurik is already a little scared of Buddy now. Buddy is so demanding, he gobbles up his own share and goes for Zurik’s.
So, what does Zurik do now?
Smart fellow…..he waits until Buddy leaves, then only he comes down from the roof….for his share.
Cats are just….so smart, aren’t they?
