Dog License Application in Sarawak
(Private Residential Area)
Assistant Minister of Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang stated that all dog owners will now be required to obtain licenses for their dogs under the new Local Authorities (Dog Licensing and Control) by-laws 2018, tabled and approved by the Sarawak Cabinet on Oct 18.
Under by-law 4(1), the license will be valid for three (03) years. The licensing fee for sterilized dogs and unsterilized dogs are RM30 and RM90, respectively, limiting to three dogs for landed properties or one small breed dog for flat and apartment properties.
Under By-Law 9, it specifies that higher licensing fees are imposed for additional dogs; RM90 for sterilised dogs and RM270 for non-sterilised dogs, and has to be approved be local authorities.
All 26 local authorities throughout Sarawak shall be using Local Authorities (Dog Licensing and Control) by-laws 2018, effectively December 1, 2018.

Miri City Council;
Sibu Municipal Council;
Bintulu Development Authority;
Padawan Municipal Council;
Serian District Council;
Simunjan District Council;
Kota Samarahan Municipal Council;
Bau District Council;
Lundu District Council;
Sri Aman District Council;
Lubok Antu District Council;
Betong District Council;
Saratok District Council;
Sarikei District Council;
Maradong dan Julau District Council;
Sibu Rural District Council;
Kanowit District Council;
Dalat and Mukah District Council;
Matu and Daro District Council;
Marudi District Council;
Subis District Council;
Limbang District Council;
Lawas District Council; and
Kapit District Council.
Please note that the following items are REQUIRED to apply for dog licence:-
1) Completed Application form,
2) Photocopy (both back and front) of Applicant Identity Card*
3) Letter of Consent from Manager Corporation of flat/apartment/condominium (if applicable)
4) Copy of Certificate of Anti Rabies Vaccination Record (or medical Records with rabisin’s sticker)
5) Copy of Certificate of Sterilisation Record (proof of your dog had been neutered/spayed)
6) Two (02) photos of your dog (dog’s face and whole body), one-time-off.
7)Writen approval from Department of Veterinary Service Sarawak (applicable if you owned restricted dog breed)
* Applicant has to be at least 18years old and Sarawakian. For non-Sarawakian, your work permit/passport is required.
