Dogs are companionable creatures. They require social interaction with humans and other animals. Regular exercise such as in the form of daily walks, and interaction with family members are a must. Dogs are not unlike children in that they need constant communication and practice to remind them of what the right behaviours are – through positive reinforcement methods.
Dogs that are not toilet trained, digging the garden, run out of gate, chew on shoes and furniture, or bark at passers-by are some of the reasons why owners confine their dogs.
Constant confinement and isolating the animal from human interaction will often make the dog’s behaviour uncontrollable (fierce to an extend as claimed) and hyper on release.
There are solutions to these problems which should be tried, rather than preventing the dog from having sufficient freedom to move about.
Give your dog a chance for a better quality of life. Your time and effort will be well-rewarded.
