“WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?! I GIVE YOU THE CAT BUT YOU DON’T WANT!”
At about 11 a.m. today, a man walked up to our Front Desk holding a black garbage bin which holds a cat inside, he informed our Front Desk Officer that he reversed his car and hit the cat. We replied to him since our vets currently do not offer any illness/injury treatment services, he must bring it to another vet for immediate treatment. He then changed his statement and said the cat is fine and would like SPCA to have it. SPCA is currently under a lockdown for Cat surrendering due to biosecurity measures from a recent disease outbreak so we informed him that we are not able to accept any surrendering for now. The person was unsatisfied and walked off from our reception area. A few of our staffs and volunteers then caught him and another man in the act of dumping the cat nearby the dog fence area and we confronted him regarding the matter.
Apparently they tried to play the victim and use the blame game tactic with us during the argument and scolded us for not doing our job (refer to the capitalized quote on top) when we have clearly told them we could not help them due to our current conditions (we were constantly interrupted when we talk). They lied to get their way (changing stories), refuse to listen to what we asked them to do (bring it to the vet), attempt to dump the injured animal when we do not have the means to help, then tried to take videos/photos of us in attempt to shame us to make it viral online when we confront them about it.
To not hold accountability for your actions towards animals like accidentally injuring an animal, to dump your problems behind people’s backs, blaming others for not taking your responsibility is a despicable act and an irresponsible thing to do. Most importantly, it is a cruel act to abandon an injured animal! We try to help within our capacity but it is absolutely wrong for anybody to have the mentality that SPCA Selangor is a dumping ground for anyone’s problems when it was not us who have made a mistake and not doing the best to amend the situation!
Have a conscience and do the right thing.
