Soi Dog Foundation

Thank you for your condolences on the passing of Pa Lewan, a heroine to the street dogs of Phuket. Your kind words will be shared with her family.

More than 200 street dogs depended on Pa Lewan for food. Temporary measures have been put in place and a permanent solution will be found to ensure these dogs continue to get food.

The cremation ceremony will take place at Wat Vichit Sangkaram (Wat Kuan) in Phuket on Monday 10th July at 12 pm.

You can find the original announcement and short video of Pa Lewan feeding street dogs below.

Soi Dog Foundation is sad to announce the passing of Pa Lewan. She joins the list of Phuket animal heroines who have died this year. She was involved in a road traffic accident whilst out feeding dogs on Monday evening.Pa Lewan recovered from breast cancer not long ago, yet her routine never varied. Up before dawn, she had a stall at the local fish market. She would leave there mid-morning, taking back with her unsold fish and other food she got from other stall holders. Soi Dog gave her an additional 400 kg of dog food every month. She would then prepare the food and in the afternoon would load up her motorcycle and sidecar and head to Koh Sire. Next, she would go to Toh Sae Hill – more popularly known as Monkey Hill – and feed the dogs there. In total, well over 200 dogs depended on her for their food. We are now looking to find someone else who can feed these dogs. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Pa Lewan’s family and friends.Pa Lewan is shown feeding dogs on Monkey Hill in 2015.
