10am All Quiet

At 6.30am, I went out to look for Daffi again and met Francis. He hadn’t seen her at all.

Just then, a face popped out from the roof.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t Daffi.

It was G-Cuz.

He was the one eating the food then.

Once some other cat has invaded the place, I know for certain, Daffi will not come back to it. That’s her mega Calico-pride.

I climbed up to the roof again this morning to look. No sign of Daffi. I cleaned up that spot on the roof and left a fresh bowl of water there. No food. G-Cuz would only eat it up and it would attract more neighbourhood cats to that spot.

I had already feared the worst on Saturday morning when I discovered her gone. Some people like to think that cats go away to “cross over” when it is time to go. I think it’s more of them feeling weak and defenseless, so cats, being the proud creatures that they are, do not ask for help, they would go away and hide and be on their own to let Nature take its course. So yes, they go away. I think it’s because they feel weak and defenseless.

Anyway, how would we know, right?

Then, by evening, she made herself visible to me. Many times too. The last was yesterday, at about 10am (to be exact, it was 9.30am – I checked the text messages I sent to the psychic). I had climbed up the ladder, and there she was – sitting on the roof. She looked at me for what seemed a fairly “long” time (it could have been just a few seconds, but it seemed long). Then, she mewed at me. I had no camera and could not take her photo. I quickly got down the ladder. I thought she was ready to come back. I wanted to get some fresh food for her, but by the time I got up again, she was gone.

That was the last I saw Daffodil.

Was that goodbye, Daffi?

I have to look after Ginger now and make sure he will be okay.

Even last night’s homecooked failed to attract Daffodil back.

Our most empathetic cat, Cow.

I am devastated and crying my heart out. Cow is on my lap.
