Hi there. My name is Avides and I am a boy of around 5 years of age. I am a quiet and gentle character and I like to spend my days dozing in the sun. The people here tell me I am a very special dog, as I have a condition that makes me lose my balance when I walk.

But let�s start at the beginning. Soi Dog Rescue Officers found me abandoned and tied to a tree at a temple, unable to move. They rushed me to the safety of the shelter here in Phuket, Thailand. First the doctors thought I was paralyzed, but after a while I started to use my hind legs again.

After extensive tests, the doctors here concluded I most likely sustained permanent damage to my ear canals when my previous owners left a very bad ear infection untreated. The doctors say my condition probably won�t improve, but that is is unlikely to get worse either. So I will need to find a special person, who is able to take care of me for the rest of my life. I can walk a little but I do wobble a lot. I can use very shallow ramps, but I can�t climb stairs. But what I am very good at is snuggling!

I am a really lovable character. If you let me I will relax on your lap for hours, enjoying gentle strokes. And scratching my chin does make my one hind leg go waddle-crazy. The people here say this is so adorable! I am also a good working companion: when my Adoption Coordinator takes me to the office with her, I rest on a little pillow on her desk and snooze away while she is busy answering emails. I like that, because it means I get a lot of cuddles in her breaks.

I am looking for a calm home with a person who has lots of time to spend with me. I am happy to be carried and I weigh only 2.5kg, so I can easily join you on outdoors adventures if you�re happy to pick me up. The doctors said that I can easily travel to the USA, Canada, UK or Europe. There must be someone out there for me. Could that be you?
