NATIVE RESCUE ROUND UP – MIGRATORY BIRDS GETTING A LITTLE HELP
Some species of pittas are known to migrate to this part of Asia, during winter. We have received a few calls about stranded pittas. When no obvious injury is presented, it is important for the bird to receive ample rest before a release attempt can be made.
Here are a couple of photos taken by a superb caller who found the bird in their balcony, late one evening. The pitta seemed to be in shock and did not fly or move away.
Thanks to Mr Jason who called us for advice, and helped to incubate the pitta overnight in a quiet, dark and non air-conditioned but ventilated environment, we are happy that the pitta could not wait to fly away next morning when he attempted release. Have a great weekend everyone!
