ANIMALS ARE NOT FREIGHT DAY

Today, we � together with people all over the world- commemorate the 20th anniversary of the world�s worst ever live export disaster, when 67,488 sheep died.

Every year, millions of animals are transported long distances to slaughter, suffering immensely.

Live transportation happens all over the world, including South East Asia. About 341,00 pigs are brought by ferry into Singapore each year for slaughter. Millions of chickens and ducks are transported via the causeway from Malaysia destined for one of 13 poultry slaughterhouses here. In 2014, 3,897 sheep were transported to Singapore from various countries. These crowded and stressful journeys cause unnecessary suffering to the animals being transported. In 2014, a number of sheep died due to heat stress en route from Australia to Singapore.
