Tigers 2nd Acupuncture

Today was Tiger’s second acupuncture treatment.
Remember we tried putting the tshirt on him to prevent him from biting his flank? Well, it seemed to work. But once a day, I would take the tshirt off so that he can groom himself completely.
This afternoon, I took the tshirt off for this purpose and suddenly Tiger started that feverish biting of his flank and as expected, it broke out into a 2-second frenzy (“seizure”) followed by splatters of urine and after he came to, he continued his feverish biting and thereafter caused another “seizure” with more urine splatters until there was a pool of urine right after. Both “seizures” only lasted about 2 seconds each and it was definitely brought on by that sudden biting frenzy.
We are now almost sure that the seizures are brought on by the sudden biting frenzy.
So during the session today, we described everything to the holistic vet and wondered if it’s just due to some severe itch or a muscle problem. She says it’s probably not as simple as an external body itch or muscle but something in the central nervous system.
In simple terms, it’s probably a nerve problem.
That made sense because Tiger isn’t itchy all the time. Something triggers him to bite compulsively and then, if the biting gets too frenzied, he gets a seizure.
So, Tiger had another 15-minute session of acupuncture today. Since it’s a nerve problem, the vet said B-Vitamins would be good. But Tiger had already been on Neurobion and B-Complex all this while yet it did not seem to help, so this time, we will try a natural source of B-Complex – Nutritional Yeast.
I also ordered a Bach Flower mixture of Crab Apple and Star of Bethlehem so we will start on that as well. Crab Apple is especially good for chronic itchy skin and paw-licking (which Tiger does) and Star of Bethlehem is an all-purpose remedy for stressful emotions.
Back from his acupuncture session.
He always seems more confident after a session.
This is the nutritional yeast and I’m glad Tiger liked it with his home-made food.
On his good days, Tiger would come out from under the sofa and sit on the scratching post. But bad days, he will just spend the whole day under the sofa. I even have to feed him under the sofa.
I guess it makes sense to stop him from his feverish biting (if that’s possible) since that’s the trigger to the seizures.
