Look At Bunnys Eyes!!!

We knew Bunny was gradually becoming blind over the last few months or even further back. He is FIV+ so blindness is one of the conditions often befalling cats with the FIV.

On 22nd June, we got his eye pressure checked and it was on the higher end of the normal range. Since it was still within normal range, the vet said we did not have to worry about high blood pressure. That was such a relief!

But the vet listened to Bunny’s heart and detected arrhythmia. For this, we started giving him CoezymeQ10.

It’s been 18 days already and we noticed that Bunny seems more active and happier too.

But a few days ago, we noticed something which we hadn’t seen for a long time now….Bunny’s pupils can contract!  Well, not until a single line, but they are contracting a lot more than before. Bunny has been having these big dilated pupils for many, many months and it’s often dilated even when he is out in the sun.

On 21st June, when the vet shone a torch into Bunny’s eyes, he detected only a little bit of constriction, hence he said that Bunny was 80%-90% blind. Not totally. On 22nd June, another vet checked Bunny’s eyes and confirmed that Bunny was 80%-90% blind. We weren’t exactly surprised because we already knew this as he was bumping into cats and sometimes, into things. His pupils were also always dilated all the time.

But take a look at Bunny’s eyes now, and this was taken in the garden, not under direct sunlight too:

This sure is quite a lot of pupil constriction, isn’t it?!!

Bunny, how much can you see now??

We’ll never know, but he also seems to be bumping less into the other cats now.

So I got so excited, I texted his photos to two of his vets. One vet didn’t say anything, but another vet said, “Yes, It looks good!”

I’m not sure if this means his eyes are improving. The only thing Bunny has taken is the CoEnzymeQ10 and this is more for his heart though it contains anti-oxidants too.

Happy Buns!

An update: The vet replied that yes, CoEnzymeQ10 CAN help improve Bunny’s eyesight!

This is the brand we use for Bunny:

CoQ10
