Vincents Strange Intermittent gagging

This photo above was taken yesterday, after breakfast. Vincent came back to eat, finished his food, and after letting him manja-pot for awhile, I was able to make him sit by himself with Ginger on their other chair. He seemed okay.

But in the evening when he came back, he wasn’t keen to eat again. We’ve noticed this condition for a few times now, but the thing is, it is intermittent. He would sniff at his food, then run away as though he was afraid of the food. Or, he would only eat wetfood, or only kibbles, but not both. Or, he would eat heartily, then suddenly make a sound although he is gagging, spits out his food and run for his life.

Yesterday evening, the gagging, spitting and running away happened again.

So this morning, we waited for him to come and then offered food, but he tried to run away after sniffing at the food. Thank goodness I managed to catch hold of him.

And cage him so that we can take him to the vet later today.

After some time being in the cage, he ate some wetfood. Then, he ate the kibbles (placed in a separate bowl). Later, he ate almost an entire can of wetfood! No gagging this time.

Maybe we’ve misunderstood the whole recent PatioCat social environment – Vincent is probably unwell, so he feels defenseless and lacking in confidence. This made Ginger bully him. And this also made Vincent stay away.

Vincent was whining for about an hour. Poor Vincent.

Is Ginger trying to help by keeping Vincent company or is he just establishing hierachy.

We’ll never quite know.

Can I take charge of matters out there?

We’ll be taking Vincent to the vet’s later today when it opens.

I hope it’s not something blocking the passageway in his throat. The strange thing is the “gagging and spitting” only happens intermittently.
