CAMP ACRES 2015: A SUCCESS FOR CHILDREN AND ANIMALS!
Camp ACRES – our first ever holiday camp for children – took place from the 5th to 6th December 2015 at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC). It was a fun learning adventure for everyone who took part: students, teachers and ACRES staff!
Children aged 7 to 13 years old, from different schools and from all over Singapore, gathered together during Camp ACRES to team up for animals. Through engaging activities and team-bonding games designed to ignite a passion for helping animals, the youngsters found out how they can be a true friend to all kinds of animals and live an animal-friendly life. We were delighted to see new friendships forming between these budding animal advocates, united in their goal of keeping animals safe and happy.
The children even got to play a hands-on role in taking care of rescued wild animals, which was a highlight and first-ever such experience for many!
We thoroughly enjoyed spending this time with the children, and seeing their passion for helping animals grow over the course of the camp gives us great hope for the future of the animal protection movement!
Wed like to express our deepest thanks to our volunteer Camp Facilitators: Mingli, Sam, Jaslyn, Serene, Wanting, Joseph, Puiling and Veron. They displayed great initiative, responsibility and enthusiasm. We also thank other volunteers – Laksmi’s group (Diploma in Business and Social Enterprise, Ngee Ann Polytechnic), Jolene, Trisha and Zoe – who contributed towards Camp ACRES in many other ways
Were also deeply grateful to Vegetarian Villas for sponsoring the healthy and scrumptious lunches.
Finally, we thank the parents who signed their children up for Camp ACRES. Without them, the children would not have learned so much about helping animals, and we would not have met such wonderful and caring individuals. They have touched our hearts deeply. Three cheers for Camp ACRES!
