LANDMARK RULING: ANIMALS CAN LEGALLY BE CONSIDERED VICTIMS

The Oregon Supreme Court (in the USA) has passed a landmark ruling that will improve the way that animals are protected by law. The ruling ensures that an animal can be seen as a legal “victim” in a case, giving animals more basic rights to protect them from abuse.

This is a truly progressive step, acknowledging that animals are sentient beings in their own right rather than “property”.
