I have never known such fear � I was snatched from the street, squashed into a small metal cage with many other dogs, and taken away on a truck to cross the border out of Thailand. It hurt being in the metal cage with other dogs. Where were these people taking me? Why were there so many of us?

I could hear the younger dogs crying with fear as we travelled through the night, the older dogs unable to cope with the stress and heat during the day. Many died as we drove towards the border. I don�t know how long we were on this truck of hell but finally we stopped for what felt like a longer time than normal. I heard lots of shouting and felt cages moving underneath me.

Why were we being taken off the truck? These people seemed different � they were looking at us like they cared and were checking if we were OK. We were taken to a big shelter built especially for dogs like us that were rescued from the dog meat trade. I have never seen so many dogs.

My name is Winter. I now know I am one of the lucky ones. If it hadn�t been for supporters like you, Soi Dog wouldn�t have been able to save us. We would be dead. Skinned alive and boiled for our meat.
