AFRAID OF THE MONITOR LIZARD? FRET NOT!

Are the students or staff at your school facing any difficulty with certain furry (or scaly) creatures of the wild? Or, are the workers struggling to cope with a little �wild� situation at your workplace?

Fret not, because the ACRES Education Team is here to help! Invite us to share our knowledge about wild animals in Singapore, so that everyone can counter their fears and worries with understanding and patience.

On the 22nd of July, we were at Furen International School, sharing information about our native wildlife in Singapore with the students, shining a light on the Malayan water monitor. Students who used to panic at the sight of monitor lizards – which appear rather frequently on the school premises – now have a clearer understanding of these shy reptiles that play a vital role in keeping our environment clean by eating away carcasses of other animals.

Besides learning what to do upon encountering a wild animal in Singapore, several students at FIS expressed interest in volunteering for ACRES to make a hands-on difference for animals. With the kind support shown by the students and school staff on the day of our visit, we definitely feel optimistic for the future of the animals!
