ATTACKED BY DRUNKS, ALUNDA WAS DESPERATE FOR HELP

My name is Alunda and I am only one year old, but I recently learnt how cruel people can be.

Most of the people I encounter are very kind to me. They give me food and water and say hello to me. It may not be the same as having a home of my own like some dogs do, but it’s really not a bad life.

I learnt a very hard lesson one night recently. A group of men were walking down the street and I thought I would go and say hello to them. You never know, perhaps they might have had a tasty treat to share with me.

Sadly, these were not nice men. They were acting very strange and smelled funny and then before I knew it, one of them pulled a knife out of nowhere and cut me very deeply with it.

The pain was like nothing I had ever felt before. I ran away as fast as I could and thankfully I was faster than the men. I went and hid in the bushes and there was my blood everywhere. I was so frightened and worried that they would find me again.

I hid for a few days as I was so terrified these men would come back and hurt me again. Eventually, I got too hungry and thirsty to hide anymore, so I went to see one of the people I knew would be kind to me, my friend Khun Rord.

Khun Rord was horrified by the sight of me and called Soi Dog straight away. Animal rescue officer Khun Thep came and picked me up and brought me to the Soi Dog clinic.

Once I arrived at the clinic, I saw a nice man called Dr Eugene. He told me that he would help make my wound better and that I was safe here.

While I was hiding, my wound got very badly infected and horrible insects called maggots started to live there. It was disgusting and very painful. Dr Eugene cleaned out my wound and said I would need to stay at the clinic for a while. I don’t mind too much as I am fed nice meals here and everyone is really kind.

I don’t know what would have happened to me if Soi Dog hadn’t been able to help me. I am also told that Soi Dog has only been able to help me because of special people who help them, called the Emergency Response Team. Because of the generous support from these people, Soi Dog are able to help many dogs and cats just like me, who find themselves in awful situations with no one to turn to.

Would you like to be one of those special people who help animals in urgent need of care? If the answer is yes, please click on my photo below to find out more about how you can help.

Every day, Soi Dog Foundation picks up sick and injured animals in desperate need of medical treatment. A small, regular gift from you will provide emergency care to those in urgent need, and fund spaying and neutering to prevent further suffering – will you sign up today?
