End The Suffering Of Stray Cats Like Somcheang And Her Kittens.

ATTACKED BY A DOG WITH THREE KITTENS TO CARE FOR, SOMCHEANG WAS DOWN ON HER LUCK

My name is Somcheang and life has been tough for me lately. I have no home to call my own and recently gave birth to three beautiful kittens. Don’t get me wrong, I love my babies, but it can be really hard to care for a small family when you live on the streets.

As if things were not hard enough, I recently got bitten by a dog. He was trying to get to my kittens. I was not going to let anything happen to my babies, so I mustered as much courage as I could and I stood up to that dog. He would not go away without a fight, so unfortunately, I got very badly bitten on my hip. The pain was horrendous, but all I cared about was keeping my kittens safe. Thankfully the dog realised I was going to fight to the death, so he ended up leaving us alone.

Knowing my kittens were safe, I was able to concentrate on myself for a moment. I was in so much pain and so scared. I didn’t know what to do. My luck finally changed when a Soi Dog volunteer named Alex noticed me and my babies hiding in the bushes. She picked us up and put us in a box and told me she was going to get help for us. Next thing I know we arrived at the cat clinic at Soi Dog and were seeing a vet named Dr Pam.

Dr Pam was so kind to us. She saw that my babies had skin problems and told me they would need to go in a special room called the isolation room, because they may give these skin problems to other cats. I was worried about being separated from my babies, but Dr Pam promised me they would be well looked after and that that we needed to focus on getting me well.

Dr Pam cleaned and stitched my wound and gave me some medicine to help with the pain and to prevent an infection. She also noticed I had ear mites, which explains why my ears have been so itchy for a while now.

I am now starting to recover well and am told my kittens are also doing fine. Dr Pam told me that I was helped because of people who belong to a special group called the Emergency Response Team. She said that without this teams support, cats and dogs like me would not be able to get the help they need. I am so happy this team exists as I am not sure what would have happened to my kittens and I if we didn’t get help.

I know I am not an isolated case and that there will always be dogs and cats out there just like me who need urgent veterinary care. Would you like to help them by becoming a member of the Emergency Response Team? I know many other dogs and cats are relying on you.
