LONE SURVIVING DOG RESCUED FROM SHIPMENT BOUND FOR LAOS

Underneath the bodies of his dead friends, a lone dog was found by Watchdog Thailand and the local authorities, in the back of a cart destined to be barbecued.

Agents from Watchdog Thailand, Soi Dogs undercover unit, and local authorities located the shipment as it was about to board a boat across the river into Laos. This lone survivor and the dead dogs were promptly seized and the perpetrators detained for questioning.

The true horror felt by this lone survivor, now named Boonchuay, can be seen in his eyes as he tries to crawl out from under his dead companions. Gasping for breath, no doubt dehydrated and terrified, it was not possible to convey to him that he was now safe.

Boonchuay is now in the care of the Department of Livestock, who with Soi Dog’s guidance and funding, help care for the victims of this horrific trade. Investigations are now underway and under Thailand’s new animal welfare laws, we expect the dog smugglers to be charged and punished to the full extent of this law.

It is only with your support that dogs like Boonchuay can be saved and cared for. By making a donation to care for dogs like Boonchuay, you can ensure that he receives the food, shelter and medical care he needs and that he remains safe from this barbaric trade.
