MIDORI GETS A REVAMPED ENCLOSURE!
Unlike the rescued tortoises, who get to enjoy the outdoors at our Main Sanctuary Area, the green iguanas in our care have to be kept indoors at the present time. They are great escape artists, and their awesome ability to climb makes it difficult to create an outdoor enclosure for them for the time being. While we work towards providing them with a better home in the future, we strive to give them the best we can for now.
We make sure we revamp our iguana enclosures once in a while, to provide the iguanas with a new and refreshing environment. We just revamped Midoris enclosure by providing a larger water tub for soaking. We also expanded his enclosure by combining the holding area into the main body of the enclosure. In addition, a wooden pallet was installed to provide him with a new climbing element.
We have plans to revamp the rest of our iguana enclosures. One thing we do is use logs to replicate a natural environment as much as possible. These logs do rot from time to time and need to be changed. You can help us by looking out for logs when trees are being cut in your area. You can email Kalai at kalai@acres.org.sg with details of the location. Thank you!
