Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers out there!

On that note, we would like to share with you a story of this wonderful mother dog. She was rescued and brought in together with her puppies which were only a few days old at the time. Their eyes weren’t even open yet and they could only crawl. She always kept her babies close to keep them warm, licked them and breastfed them.

Despite her (and our) best efforts however, most of the puppies did not make it due to their age and poor immune systems.

But the good news is that one of them is now grown up, happy and healthy! (He’s the one leaning against mommy in the picture.)

The other puppies in the picture were surrendered to us a couple of weeks later without their mother, so we introduced them to the mother and son. They have been very welcoming, and the mother has been caring for and feeding those puppies, even though they aren’t hers. The son will sometimes walk around the cage and lick the other puppies too. They are one happy family now

PAWS was founded in 1987 by a small group of local and expatriate volunteers. Through their generosity and imagination, PAWS was constructed on a patch of land owned by Sime Plantations on the Subang Airport Road. This distinct group of sheds and a courtyard still stands today and currently homes around 400 cats and dogs.

The staff that work at PAWS include one veterinary surgeon and a number of full-time personnel. The organisation depends entirely on the generosity of the public through donations or proceeds from charitable events organized and run by volunteers.
