Cow Maus Eye

It’s been many weeks since we took Cow Mau for a consultation on his second corneal ulcer (on the same eye). This vet embraces the “first do no harm” principle and we decided to give it a try.

Yesterday, Ming-Yi brought Cow for a check-up. It’s been 23 days since the debridement was done and the good news is that the ulcer is now one-third of its former size!

Unfortunately, the bad news is the eye is infected, so Cow now needs Gentamycin (eyedropsevery2 hours and the ointment at night). We’ve managed to keep it clean and uninfected for more than 2 weeks, but recently there was an internal fight while we were out. We noticed a scratch mark on Indy’s neck, one of Bunny’s nose and the vet found a claw mark on Cow’s head.

The titans must have fought while we were out.

Tabs to Cow: Get well soon, Cow!

He’s back on the e-collar since the eye is infected.

After a day of consistently applying the Gentamycin eyedrop, the eye seems less cloudy.

The vet had earlier decided (with our consent) to avoid the use of all medication with the hope that by keeping the eye clean, it will heal by itself.

Since we are not at home all the time, it’s rather difficult to know what goes on in Bunny’s Place and with the titans, clashesare, unfortunately, not uncommon.

We will be going back for a check-up before Wednesday. Many vets are going off for a conference after Wednesday.
