Unlike Bugs Bunny, rabbits should not eat carrots often, due to the latter’s high sugar content. At most half a baby carrot, once every three to four days, may be given as a ‘treat’.
A supply of hay, preferably Timothy Hay, should be readily available for rabbits to chew on. A variety of green, leafy vegetables like bok choy, broccoli, cabbage and kale can be very nutritious as well. However, a rabbit owner should not be giving the rabbit too many vegetables all at once but introduce the vegetables to the rabbit’s diet gradually.
