Show Tolerance To Community Animals: SPCA

Thanks to the Straits Times for publishing SPCA’s statement regarding the blame placed on the dogs in Bukit Batok.

SPCA appeals to all members of the public to show a little more empathy towards community animals, many of whom shelters are not able to take in owing to severe space and resource constraints.

Specifically where Bukit Batok is concerned, though, SPCA has, since July 2013, been working with the core feeders and the relevant authorities to help neuter and then re-home the remaining dogs in the area, as far as we could.

So far, we have managed to get at least 6 dogs from that area re-homed successfully into loving homes. We are still working with the core feeders on the matter.

I REFER to the letters by Dr George Wong Seow Choon (“Concerted effort needed to tackle rat problem”; Monday) and Ms Dipa Swaminathan (“Dog feeders just showing they care”; Forum Online, Monday).
