3 weeks ago we received a report from a pet owner of what he suspected was poisoning of his pet cat in the condo compound. Unfortunately a post-mortem was not done by the owner as they wanted to bury their beloved pet. We issued an alert for pet owners and community feeders about poisoning in the area on FB immediately, and we visited the condo office of the apartment yesterday for updates.
Ms Mala said of the 124 units, approximately 10 units reared dogs and 20 had cats. We gave her some educational leaflets (responsible pet ownership and on diagnosing/ responding to pet poisoning) for distribution to the pet owners. There is an active animal rescuer/ feeder there who has a feeding area for the strays, and they are also neutered and released. We have left our contact details also in case the residents are keen on getting their pets neutered to prevent unwanted births of puppies and kittens! All in a day’s work
