HIT REPEATEDLY OVER THE HEAD WITH A STICK, I CRIED AND CRIED UNTIL I COULD CRY NO MORE

I am an 8 year old boy called Java. Born on the streets of Phuket, Thailand, I have never known what its like to have a roof over my head or a loving owner to care for me. I had to depend on myself to survive.

Some days, I would be lucky and find food in the trash, or a kind stranger would throw me something to eat. I will never understand humans though; why are some nice to me and some want to hurt me?

The day I approached one man in the hope that he would give me some food, he hit me so many times with a stick that he nearly split my head open.

When Animal Rescue Officer Khun Sanae raced to get me and bring me to Soi Dog, he found me with a horrible wound on my head. It was infected and full of maggots. I was in such terrible pain.

Since being here, Dr. Eugene is cleaning and treating my injury every day and has put me on medication for the pain. I am calm and quiet when he treats me; I know he is a good human.

With each day that passes, I am healing. The scar on my head fades that little bit more. I hope that one day, the memory of what was done to me will do the same.

Every day, Soi Dog picks up dogs and cats that are sick, injured, abandoned or abused. To help these animals, and provide them with the care and treatment they need, we rely on the Soi Dog supporters that make up the Emergency Response Team.

Without them, dogs like Java would still be suffering on the street, alone and in agony. He would not have made it.

Sadly, there are many more street dogs and cats that need help. Please join us in saving them by becoming a member of the Emergency Response Team today.

No amount is too small; every penny helps. To make a one-time or recurring donation, please click on Javas photo below. Thank you.

By joining the Emergency Response Team, you are making sure that suffering street dogs and cats get the life-saving treatment they so urgently need.
