Fun For All The Family At Soi Dog!

Last Saturday, May 10th, Soi Dog held its first Open Day, inviting the Phuket community to visit our shelter and meet our beautiful dogs and cats looking for forever homes. Visitors were given a guided tour of the shelter and an opportunity to ask our resident vet about pet care, not to mention the possibility of sponsoring or adopting.

Royal Canin distributed pet care information and samples of dog and cat food for pets to enjoy once their owners got home. The Open Day also saw the judging of our Mobile Adoptions vehicle logo competition. Children were invited to submit their designs for a logo that will be used on our new mobile adoptions vehicle, with 10 year old Elisa Goradetskaya’s design being judged the winning entry –well done Elisa!

We would like to thank our kind sponsors Class Act Media, Anthem Wakepark and Splash Jungle, as well as all the volunteers and staff who helped out on the day. Thanks also to Rinsin Reading for the delicious doggie cupcakes, Lady Pie and her delicious Aussie pies and Lena, Mollie and Hannah for their yummy waffles.

The event raised almost 50,000 baht and so far has resulted in two confirmed adoptions! We hope this will be the first of many open days, enabling the residents of Phuket to visit our shelter, learn more about our work, and fall in love with a new furry companion to adopt.

Adopting from Soi Dog is easy, even if you don’t live in Thailand. Many of our dogs and cats have found new homes in the US, Canada and Europe and we organise everything for you. If you think you can give one of our animals a home, please visit http://bit.ly/1g2TF1O for more information and email cristy@soidog.org if you can help.
