Poor Maruko Has To Have Her Injured Leg Amputated

Hi, my name is Maruko. I have been at Soi Dog for quite a while after being hit by a car. You can read my original story at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.656731584368580.1073742606.108625789179165&type=3

After I was hit by a car I had to have surgery on my leg. I had a strange looking pin sticking out of my leg for a while and the vets were doing everything they could to save my leg. I was doing my part too, resting a lot and not moving around too much. Unfortunately, the pin in my leg did not help heal my injuries and the vets had no choice but to amputate my leg. I wasn’t too upset about this as I know dogs can get by just fine with a leg missing and if I am honest, I had had enough of my pesky leg and was getting annoyed that it wasn’t healing correctly. I’d much prefer three good legs than having to get around with a permanently injured leg.

My surgery went well and I am still in the clinic recovering. The vets are really nice to me and have been giving me tablets so I don’t feel any pain and I am also on antibiotics to prevent my surgery wound from getting infected. I am looking forward to the day though when I can either go outside to the runs or get adopted to a home of my own. I am secretly hoping more for a home of my own, but I will also be happy to live in the small dog run for a while. I hear they have a lot of fun in there and are very well looked after.

I am so lucky to be alive and to have had people to care for me. I also know that I am lucky that the people of the Emergency Response Team were on hand to help me out. This team helps to provide the urgent treatment to dogs like me. If you would like to join this team to help dogs and cats get the urgent treatment they need, you can join today by visiting https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html
