At ACRES, we try to provide our animals with optimal care. Enrichment programmes are an essential part to ensure this as it provides captive animals with something to do. This could be in the form of food or revamping enclosures to provide the animals with new challenging structures to climb.etc. Valerie, our Green iguana was found in dire condition in 2011. She has made great progress in her health and physical condition ever since. This video shows a exhibit/play enrichment where the aim was to encourage her to negotiate a swaying log to eat some flowers. This is to replicate natural conditions in the wild where branches sway and the animal has to learn to balance. Many captive animals lack this ability as their enclosures are often made from fixed and rigid structures. Thanks to our volunteer, Samuel Mok for helping to set up this enrichment and document it.
