Joy (the Adopted Poodle) Does Her Share For Old Folks!

We’ve heard of pet therapy and the Dr Dog programme, and we know these trained dogs bring a lot of joy to humans.

Now, who is Joy?

Joy was left unwanted by her owner, and Kon’s family adopted her.

Kon is our friend who organised the Kinabalu-4 project and climbed Mt Kinabalu with the teenagers to raise funds for us sometime ago.

Well, apart from climbing mountains, Kon and his wife, Siew Ee’s, other passion is to offer a helping hand to the elderly. They belong to Suvarnamitra (which means “Golden Friends”, formerly called “Good Heart”), a group that takes care of the elderly by visiting them and organising social events for them.

This evening, Kon and Siew Ee paid my parents a visit.

Little did I know that Kon and Siew Ee would bring along another member of Suvarnamitra….Joy the Poodle (an unofficial member)!

I was totally spell-bound when I saw Joy. She looks so good now AND of course, she reminds me totally of Bobby, although she must be one-third his weight (even lighter than Cleo!).

She is a miniature poodle and that explains her size.

My parents love dogs.

That’s why we grew up with dogs all of our lives. And that is also why my first encounter with cats was just 7 years ago (Cow, Bunny & Pole). I’ve never had a chance to touch a cat all my life until then!

That’s Kon in orange.

My father was bedridden due to a massive brain clot early this year. Emergency surgery saved his life and he can now sit up on the wheelchair.

Joy….who brings JOY to the elderly!

Joy is SO incredibly people-friendly. She’s such a good ambassador for Suvarnamitra.

Joy immediately made herself at home.
