Animals Rights Vs. Animal Welfare � Which Side Are You On?

I read another article, I think it was by Norm Phelps where he classifies it to “Animal Welfare” (includes bigger cages, humane slaughtering and euthanasia) and “Animal Protection” (protecting them and ensuring no harm comes to them).

I like “Animal Protection” and that was how I described AnimalCare when we first started, ie. “an animal protection group”. I figured we advocate more than mere “animal welfare” (bigger cages, etc.) and we are also not fighting for animal rights (this would include total veganism), so “animal protection” (taking care of them and protecting them because they are defenseless) would be a nice middle path conviction…

But now…oh well, what’s in a name?

Care for them and be kind to them.

Hence, AnimalCare will do!

Yes, it’s cool to be kind to animals!

And that would be enough – just be kind and you’ll do the right thing for them.
