Where Are You, My Dear Master?

Elton was found to have been  tied up to a big cage  in front of our shelter one morning. He is about 6 years old and seemed to be gentle and friendly.

He must have been tied up there for a few hours,  I untied his chain so he could walk around. But he ran out straight towards the direction of the main road, it was obvious he was finding his way home.  Worried he might be knocked down by the many cars on the main road, I chased after him and managed to drag him back.

Elton was barking for his master

I put him inside the shelter, for the first few minutes he walked around then he got restless and anxious. I heard him started to bark and he barked loudly almost non-stop for the one hour I was there. He was standing at the shelter gate, he was calling for his master.  He must have been kept as a pet for a few years and yet he was dumped. It is easy for people to abandon their dogs, but it is extremely distressing for their pets because they do not understand what happens.

Elton turned to look at me for a while before he barked again

He barks and barks

I want to go home

I am waiting for you, master.

Please do not leave me here

Where are you,  master?

I am scared to be left here

Please come and take me home
It is heart wrenching to see Elton so attach to his master. He has not given up hope that he will turn up to take him back home
To Elton,  his master is his whole world and his everything, I felt really sorry for him.
