Kim Ho, The Canine Angel
Tweet | ![]() |
Approximately 2 months ago, Kim, our Second Chance volunteer was sharing with me about this lady named Kim Ho. Kim Ho is currently taking care of more than 50 dogs by herself at a self-built shelter located at Hulu Langat. Kim Ho has a part time job and whenever she is off from her work, all her attention will be on her dogs as well as those strays around her area.
Kim Ho feeds more than 20 strays every day and she is very concern about the stray population as she notices more and more puppies were borne to the street. As such, Kim Ho has shared her concern with our Mrs Lai and Kim and hope that Second Chance or the public can help to subsidy some spaying costs for all the mother dogs.
On one particular Saturday last month, Kim, Mr. Leong and I decided to pay Kim Ho a visit, below are some of the photos during our trip to Hulu Langat :-
Among the two stray dogs that we met while we were on the way to Kim Ho house |
This stray dog has skin problem, skinny and not human friendly |
Kim Ho feeds the strays every day |
Besides feeding, Kim Ho tries to gain trust from those strays so that they can be easily caught for spaying |
Checking on one of the mother dogs |
These stray puppies use to hide under the trees or big drain to keep themselves cool during the day |
Some of the many hungry stray puppies |
Checking on another mother dog |
Kim Ho was telling us the story of this mother dog |
We brought some CNY cookies for Kim Ho and she shared some of it with the stray dogs, they like it very much ! |
Adult strays |
Some of the dogs at Kim Ho’s shelter |
Kim Ho’s home cum shelter is clean and cooling |
Strays puppies |
Some of the adult dogs |
Kim Ho has a big heart for the strays. The dog at the middle no longer can walk and discharge his pee and poo properly, so Kim Ho has to put a “pampers” for him |
The dogs were so happy to see us |
Kim Ho works very hard to feed these dogs as well as maintaining the shelter |
Once again, besides feeding and rescuing the strays, Second Chance’s main objective is to spay as many strays as we can and at the same time, to educate the public on the important of spaying in order to effectively reduce their population. So, if you like to make some contribution, please write to us.
Thanks.
