DEER ON ICE:We got involved in the rescue of a deer on the ice today. It’s not uncommon for deer to wander out there or get chased by coyotes. This one seemed to have lost its footing and couldn’t get up. The deer is now safe and recovering but this is a good reminder to all of us to keep an eye on waterways this time of year. Wildlife do get themselves into trouble from time to time and it takes skilled rescuers, in this case the fire department, to undertake such a complex rescue with specialized equipment. So keep an eye on those frozen bodies of water. You never know when you might spot an animal in need.
