Something To Share From The VSS Newsletter Why Love One But Eat The Other?

It’s thanksgiving soon for the westerners and the demand for the poor turkey will heighten. It’s like just over here – when it’s Chinese New Year season, the slaughterhouses go on full swing.
Here is something from the VSS below and there is a link to the PETA message too. Take a look and maybe we could make one for Chinese New Year, eh?
Our message has always been a moderate (hopefully, non-offensive) one: Please let’s eat LESS meat.
From the VSS:http://www.vegetarian-society.org/node/1926#16
An excerpt:
Why Love One But Eat the Other: Dog vs Turkey
PETA has unveiled a billboard – depicting a cross between a dog and a turkey – that it says it will erect near public schools in various places in Canada, in an effort to “spark a dialogue between kids and their parents” about meat consumption in the weeks leading to Thanksgiving. The billboard says, “Kids: If you wouldn’t eat your dog, why eat a turkey? Go vegan.”
From PETA:http://www.winnipegsun.com/2012/09/26/peta-billboards-target-turkey-dinners
An excerpt:
Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and kindness, and we should not celebrate this by eating the decomposing corpse of a tortured bird, Lauren Stroyeck of PETA said from the organizations headquarters in Norfolk, Va., claiming that turkeys suffer severe injuries in mass-production facilities.
The message of our billboard is one of compassion.
However, if you read the full article, it says that the chairman of Turkey Producers says the billboard is “not classy nor tasteful” and that turkey sales have been consistent.
One wonders how to make a “classy billboard” to tell people not to eat so much meat…
Oh well, that is always the case – one man’s meat is another man’s poison (pun intended!).
How about this? My friend, TY Lee, has been sending this all over the world and receiving very good feedback! We also give it out during our events. (http://www.loveusnoteatus.com/)
Or this one (my favourite):
I like these too:
Oh, this one is really sad…
Or, what about this one?

Me? I just make sure I have a mix of 4 to 5 types of veges, preferably of 4-5 different colours. That would do. No need for any fanciful recipes. I’m far too lazy and totally unadventurous when it comes to food.
A combo of Carrot/Red Capsicum/Pumpkin/Cauliflower/Green Vege – that’s it.
