Adding Wheatgrass To Monge

Monge is pure meat/fish. So I thought I should add some veges into it. I tried my steamed blended carrot/pumpkin/celery…yes, that works too, but not for fusspots like Indy, Cow and Cleo.

Then, I had an idea….

 My pride and joy….wheatgrass!
(This is about the only thing I’ve managed to grow….all my life.)

Here are some of the wheatgrass benefits for pets

Studies by scientists have shown it to never be toxic in animals or humans
Gives energy & stamina
Reverses illness
Protection of toxins- including aging and combats free radicals
Rejuvenates blood
Helps shed pounds by detoxifying the body
DNA repair
Blood cleansing and building abilities of chlorophyll
Builds blood and stimulates circulation
Stimulates and regenerates the liver
Deodorizes body

Wheatgrass is absolutely safe for pets. All pets. This includes dogs, cats, hamsters, etc. In fact, because it has so many nutrients and a high concentration of chlorophyll it will do nothing but good for them. Cats and dogs can digest the wheatgrass fiber well, unlike humans, which bodies do better with wheatgrass juice.

Here are some of the ways you can help your pets get wheatgrass into their diets

I believe that most animals instinctively know what’s good for them when presented the choice.

Homemade food: If you make your own cat or dog food, be sure to include wheatgrass in the mix. Add it to your blender, food processor or meat grinder when making the food.

Homemade treats: Include some fiber in your treats to add extra nutrition.

Wounds: If your pet happens to get in a little accident and has some open wounds, then make a poultice with the pulp and juice and apply directly on the wound, secured with a cloth or bandage if possible. If not, use the juice to clean it out as a rinse.

A tray left out for a snack: I prefer to leave a small tray of wheatgrass next to their food bowl whenever I can. This way, they can have a healthy snack anytime of day.

Add it to their water bowl: By adding some fresh wheatgrass juice to thier water, they will get the most benefit. You could even put just a little in a tiny bowl for them, to lick it up.

You’ll want to give them less then .5 oz of juice to start for small animals, and if it’s a big dog, they should be able to handle 1 oz. But be careful, it might give them a lot of energy so you might need to have a shot of juice yourself!

I cut up a few blades of wheatgrass and mix it with their Monge. In fact, I even mix it with Natural Balance and my raw food. And for the first time, EVERYONE eats it up!

With Monge, there is no time to take photos as everything gets eaten up too fast.

It even gets eaten from the can straight as I’m not fast enough to replenish it into the 7 bowls. I should mix it in the kitchen so that they won’t eat directly from the can.

Surely you know we need more, right?

Indy is my fussiest cat – he loves Monge too, and I’m glad. Otherwise, Indy is a kibble-fan, and he does not do very well with kibble.

They recognise the can, and they get all excited when they see me holding the cans.

I only buy these five flavours. They love all of them.
There are two more flavours (beef and omelette).

This is one of the reasons why I choose Monge – it’s cruelty-free and dolphin-safe. That matters a lot to me.

It’s also human-grade meat and has no jelly. There is a type with jelly, but that’s not available in Malaysia.  Now, by adding wheatgrass, I hope it’s more complete for the cats. Anyway, ask the cats….they lap up everything and it’s never enough for them!

 More, please?

Nope, only once in 3 days.

On other days, it’s Natural Balance, raw food and on the rare occasion, some kibble. I can sneak in some raw food into their canned food and it gets eaten up. Somehow, my cats do not really like cooked food anymore. Maybe after a break, they will eat it again…
