Goodbye, Honeybun (from Judy Chua)

Honeybun is in a better place now. We wish her a wonderful new journey and we hope Judy will be comforted that she had given Honeybun a wonderful life. What’s more, Honeybun and Frank changed Judy’s perception of cats and encouraged Judy to look after many other cats after that.
We truly share Judy’s loss. This is from Judy:
Dear Kah Yein
It was too painful to do any notification immediately after Honeybun’s passing nor after she was laid to rest.
Sat 3 Nov 2012 was Honeybun’s last day with us. She had gasped a few times that morning but was fine soon after. I had carried her to the backyard and the front garden for awhile in the morning to catch the morning rays of sunshine. For most of the day, she laid quietly in the living room. My sis and I were with her most of the time knowing that she could go anytime. At 4.30pm, she made a movement towards my sis. My sis thought she wanted a sip of water but she moved her head away. She let my sis carry her in her arms. As I woke from a short nap, my sis asked if I would like to hold her. I replied, “its ok, you can hold her”. My sis said quietly”I think she’s going”.
I took Honeybun in my arms and held her gently close to my heart. She was so light. Imee Ooi’s metta chant was playing in the background. Its Honeybun’s favourite chant. Holding her I suggested to Honeybun that we do breathing meditation together. Breathing in ‘calm energy’, breathing out ‘letting go’. Breathing in “bud”, breathing out “dho”. She was very calm despite her intermitent gasping.
After about 15 mins, visualisation came to mind. I’ve never done visualisatinon before but I went with the intuition .. visualising repeatedly, calm, peaceful, loving energy surrounding Honeybun. I held her visualising the energies protecting her. She gasped quietly intermitently. When she took her last breath, I wasn’t even aware immediately. When it clicked that she had left this life, I looked up at the clock. It was 5 to 5 pm.
Honeybun passed away in my arms. She was in my arms for a whole hour. We had meditated together till she took her last breath. To have all this , I’m truly grateful.
Honeybun was buried in the orchard grove next to Imm’s shelter next morning. I miss her presence ever so much.
She, her sibling Frank, and their mom, Mimi, were my 1st rescue. I didn’t even like cats then back in 1998. She was such a wee kitten then, with bewitching clear blue eyes. She transformed me completely over the years.
TQ sweet, sweet Honeybun.
Honeybun with my sister in the morning.
Honeybun took her last breath at 5 to 5pm.
Rest in peace, Honeybun.
In loving memory of sweet Honeybun.
