Virgin Coconut Oil has about 45 to 55 % lauric acid and 7% of caprylic acid. These�are medium chain fatty acids which has nutraceutical�effects ie they are able to eliminate virus, bacteria, parasites and�fungus. Apart from this, Virgin Coconut Oil prevents trans-epidermal�water loss (TEFL). It helps to retain the water moisture on the skin.

Scientists have also tested coconut oil against Streptococcus mutans � a sugar-loving bacterium that clings to teeth and produces acid causing them to rot.�When the oil was treated with digestive enzymes it became a powerful killer of the bug. This�paves the way for toothpastes and mouthwashes containing coconut as an active ingredient.
