Dear Dr Chan
I have an urgent request here.Li Hwei helped me take this picture of Grace (mother dog). Grace has been taken to someone’s home in SS4 Kelana Jaya, PJ, Selangor. However, lack of experience and other reasons rendered it difficult for Grace to stay at her place safely. As such, I am rushing, along with Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better to source a fosterer for her. Grace has eaten only one egg and about 200gm-250gm in the last six days.
Grace is a traumatized mother dog, anyone fostering/adopting her will need to be patient with her. We are sourcing for a home preferably someone who has experience with handling dogs and a home that is secure and safe e.g. well-fenced area.
Grace was thrown out when she was nearing end of pregnancy. Unable to find her way around, she gave birth in the drain. I found her by chance as she chased after every car, passersby, motorbikes as the drain is located at the main exit/entrance of Essostation in Taman Kinrara Section One, Jalan TK1/1 Puchong, Selangor.
For three days & nights, I spent time to get to know her temperament, feed her etc. God sent help as threeMyanmar workers had to lay cables in the drain.A village friend helped me on the 4th day which is the day of her rescue from the drain. Civil department, MPSJ and bomba refused to help out, they had the necessary equipment but cited religious reasons. Not wasting time, I bought 2 broomstick poles from ashop, helped the workers lay the cables, Grace was irritated enough when the cables poked her, she got out, I tied her to a nearby tree. I stuck my head as far in as I can into the drain to save her pups. She has four, I just couldn’t find the other 2, so saved only two. My village friend ran with the box with her pups in it to under the big flyover bridge, mother dog followed with me running alongside. He made a rough little shade for her to resemble the drain “home” she had, put her pups there and she settled there.
Her pups grew teeth, attacked by fleas as villagers have many dogs. I SOS to Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) and 2 persons adopted the pups. Sad that mother dog Grace was left in the lurch. For almost a week now, she has so far eaten only an egg plus 200gm dog kibbles. If she carries on this way, she might die of malnutrition. Moreover, the current fosterer do not appear to know what she is doing. She lost her in just 3 hours after Grace was sent to her place. Then lost her again. Through God’s help, she was found.Grace is ok at times, but she does at times remember her pups and go into a frenzy searching for them. As such, anyone taking her, please do not allow her to go out on her own, even if she scratches at the gate or fence.
Please call me 017-2353 861.
There is a risk Grace will be sent to a shelter by this weekend if a home isn’t found for her. The current fosterer doesn’t even know how to tie her up properly so it has been my mistake not to find out more about the inadequacies. Please help. If anything negative happens to her, I really think it will be my fault to let things go out of control.
Thank you.
Regards
Carol Robyna Wong
