On 7th July 2011, the temple caretaker found a dog severely attacked and badly bitten by a pack of wild dogs in that area. The dog was brought to our vet for treatment. We named her Karuna. Karuna was a very old dog (estimated to be at least 12 years old at that time). Karuna had also been previously spayed, so we suspect she used to be a pet.
Being elderly, Karuna took her time to recover and upon recovery, my mother fostered her for many months until she became too strong for my mother to handle.
A kind uncle offered to foster her and Karuna had a good life there, gradually recovering from her old-age cough and in the last few months, started taking walks with Uncle. She was very happy and even became the “queen” in Uncle’s dog colony.
This morning, at 10.45am, Karuna passed away peacefully, after receiving more than a year of love and care.
According to Uncle, Karuna’s appetite had been really good for the past few days. She had breakfast this morning, then she vomited and passed away soon after. It happened very quickly.
May Karuna be in a happy place now.
Karuna and my mother.
Karuna and Uncle.
We want to thank everyone who has helped Karuna in all ways, providing her last lapse of life with much love and care.
