Hi Dr Chan, I hope you can bear with me on this sharing as I need to get it off my chest
My neighbour had just thrown out this young white mongrel after abusing him since puppy stage. Until now it has been chained to the gate 24 hrs/day 365 days. Its constant crying can be heard everyday until 2 days ago, it became unbearable. I went to take a look & to my horror, its neck was so infested with maggots, hundreds of them wriggling and the wound was really deep. Try spraying with medicine but maggots wont die. Confronted the owner (but in a nice manner) & pleaded to him to take dog to vet. He was embrassed but refused. He just released the dog onto the road & forbid him to enter the house. I suspected he was scared that I might report the abuse so, that was the best way to get rid of the evidence. I went to my vet for advice and medication and afterthat, took the doggy to an unoccupied house nearby for temporary shelter and treated the wound. The dog was so cooperative, undemanding and docile. After 3 days of treatment, good food & medication, his condition improved and so was his behaviour. He is now more playful and forever ready to please. He reminds me of Yoshee, same character. Now comes the headache part, his future. Estimated the recovery might take 1-1/2 mths but afterthat ??? Who wants him, surrender him to Paws (like a 1-way ticket), I keep him (but already hv 5 rescued dogs under my care – no place), returned him to owner (and let history repeat itself)… My last option is and it’s a long shot – do you think Yoshee’s owner would like to have a 3rd adorable mutt?? I truly agreed that the adoption part is the hardest. Well anyway, the dog has suffered enough and I can only hope/pray somewhere out there, there is a kind soul who is willing to take care of this doggy. Sigh..
Best regards,
CW Lee

Hi Dr Chan,
Encl. are some fotos of the abused dog. He’s doing fine, happier n healing well. Hope someone wants him but Im quite doubtful bcos he’s just so common. He’s very playful, mischievious at time and always hunger for affection. If there’s no taker after sometime, might consider giving him back to its owner. This will be the last resort (a very reluctant decision but I really have no choice as I cannot keep him long term) Well, just hope for the best for the sake of this poor fella. Thanks alot for your help
