You know as well as we do that law is nothing without enforcement. That’s why we’re so proud to bring you news of a recent animal welfare seminar held with the Philippines National Police in Manila – the very first of its kind.

Organised by our partner Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) and supported by local government, the seminar brought together 100 officers from precincts across the Philippines to discuss all things animal welfare, including tackling the country’s illegal dog meat trade.

Though animal welfare legislation has been in place nationwide since 1998, the seminar brought enforcers of that legislation up to speed on current animal welfare concerns in the country so they can better respond to violations.

Attendees showed great interest and eagerness to deepen their knowledge and all signed a declaration of commitment to rightfully respond to reports of animal welfare concerns and fully enforce the law.

This seminar represents a crucial step in the fight to end the dog meat trade in the Philippines and shows our voices are being heard.
